Jie Xu (Jason)
Dr. Xu, received his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He came back from Italy in 2013 and now is a lecturer of Tianjin University. During his Italian study, Dr. Xu was supervised by Prof. Carpinteri, who is the President of the ICF 13 and one of the most outstanding professors in Mechanics.

Dr. XU's research effort is focused on both theoretical developments and practical applications. Particular areas include fractural mechanics, and structural health monitoring. During his activity, Dr. Jie Xu made a deep research on the emissions of different energy −acoustic, electromagnetic and neutron emission− in order to identify the so-called critical phenomena in damaged materials and structures. He not only well understood the forefront knowledge in these topics, but also gave his original contributions. In particular, he proposed an improvement of the “AIC method” to give a more reliable onset of AE signals; and enhanced the location procedure for the determination of crack positions in masonry structures; he proposed a new method that can be used to locate the crack positions in masonry structures; robust method to estimate the “b-value” and so on. Some of these studies are published or were submitted to specialized international journals.
