International Student Guide
1. Registration
A. Before you go to register on site, you should register online, see before:

B. Registration date and venue:
Date: Spring semester: late February or early March every year
Autumn semester: Early September every year
Time for registration: 8:30-12:00 am, 13:00-15:00 pm
Venue: 2nd floor, Block A Liuyuan, Tianjin University (Weijin Road Campus)
C. Materials required for registration
Original and photocopy of valid Passport and Visa (X1 or X2)
Original and photocopy of the Admission Notice
10 Passport size photos
Registration fee (420 RMB pay in cash), medical insurance fee (400 RMB).
D. Registration procedures
Please make sure to follow these procedures step by step. If the previous procedure is unsuccessful, you will not be able to proceed to the next procedure:
Conform personal information: please provide a valid passport and submit a photocopy of the passport
Reporting: please show your admission notice and visa application form
Payment: please pay the registration fee
Insurance: please provide a valid passport & admission notice, and pay the insurance fee
Student identification: please provide 4 passport photos, and the student identity card is made
2. Payment of fees:
A. Registration fee : 420 RMB / per person / per semester
(Including whole semester exchange students and short-term program students)
B. Medical insurance fee: 400 RMB / per person / per semester
C. Accommodation fee: At the beginning of every month, give the rent fee to the aunty of the reception desk at the first floor, the amount is about 50-60 RMB / per day / per person. The month rent is the 50-60 RMB * how many days of the month, only CASH is accepted. You can pay one month one time or pay the total money for the accommodation at the first time.
D. Deposit of your dormitory is 500 RMB (old campus), 100RMB (new campus), smoking, drinking, cooking, keeping the room clean, no hook on the wall and all the facilities in the room are good when you leave, special requests are followed to manager of the room. Then your deposit is given back to you.
3. Suggestions:
We strongly recommend that you make a budget of about 5000 RMB to cover your living expenses (allowance, accommodation, food and transportation) for a month in Tianjin.
According to the school rule, the pillow, quilt, bedding and other things in bed are not provided by the dormitory. You can prepare by yourself or buy them when you arrive to school (about 500 RMB in the supermarket).
When you book your ticket, please send the flight information to us so that we can arrange the school driver to pick you up at the airport.
4. Campus card application and use
Tianjin University campus card can be used in canteens, supermarkets and libraries of both campuses, which make your study and life more convenient.
A. How to apply:
Materials required:
Student ID card: the ID card can be collected during the registration process, or at office 201 north, school of international education.
Passport photo: 2-inch electronic copy of your passport photo with white background (it can be copied into a USB and brought to the processing center)
Processing location:
Weijin Road Campus: campus card center, Comprehensive Service Hall (Finance Section)
Peiyang Park Campus: campus card center, 1895 Comprehensive Service Hall
B. How to top up:
By cash: you can use the self-service machine, or go to the counter to top up by cash.
C. How to change password or report loss:
Service center: you can apply for a change of password or report loss at the campus card section, Comprehensive Service Hall.
Self-service: you can apply for a change of password or report loss by using the self-service machines which locate at the Comprehensive Service Hall and canteens.
5. Electricity fee
This month, the accommodation aunty has fill 100 kilowatt hour of the electricity for each person (two persons in one room, a room now has about 200 kilowatt hours). The students please check the electricity meter outside your room at any time, if the power is about to run out, please inform the accommodation aunty, they will give you the certification of buying the power, and you bring the certification to 留园 Liu Yuan to buy the power (the location of Liu Yuan, please consult the volunteer students). The two students in one room, please share the fee according to the using situation of the power.
6. Laundry card
There is the washing machine on the third floor of the dormitory; students should buy the laundry card by yourselves in 留园 Liu Yuan for the use of the machine. (the location of Liu Yuan, please consult the volunteer students)
7. Telecommunication fee
On the 1st day of every month, please go to 中国联通(Zhong Guo Lian Tong) China Unicom service hall to pay the fee, 99 RMB / per person.
Attention: this 99-RMB phone plan cannot allow you to dial the overseas phone.
8. Meal card
Tianjin University has Students’ No. 3 restaurant, Students’ No. 4 restaurant and Students’ No. 5 restaurant. And there is also a Muslim restaurant. All of them need you to prepare a meal card for buying meals, the cash is not accepted.
You should go to 综合服务大厅 (Zong He Fu Wu Da Ting) Comprehensive Service Hall, the 9th window to buy the meal card, and fill the money into it. Money-filling-in and the meal-card-buying are the same place, you can consult the volunteer students.
9. About Wifi
The wifi signal of TJU-Wlan covers most part of Peiyang Campus, Tianjin University, including the teaching buildings, library and so on. Students should fill in the application form, with the stamp of the institute, and bring the form to open the temporary account in person, remember to bring the passport along with you. The place for opening the account please consult the volunteer students, the fee is 30 RMB/ 15G data / per month.
