Tianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI) was established on May 13^th, 2014, which is an experimental pilot for cultivating engineering talents jointly established by Tianjin University and French Polytech Nice-Sophia. Based on the engineering advantages of Tianjin University and advantaged resources of engineering education of overseas high-level university and combining the goal of Tianjin University to construct itself to be a “comprehensive, research-oriented, open and internationalized” first-class university in the world, the institute carries forward with Sino-foreign cooperation school-running, explores actively the cultivation mode for international engineering talents, improves the education quality continuously and constructs an open and internationalized first-class engineering institute, in order to meet the needs for talents in construction of an innovative country, serve the One Belt and One Road strategic layout, cultivate international engineering talents, which can meet the needs of social and economic development of China and facilitate progress of the world.

Now, TIEI recruits top students from all the key universities nationwide. It is planned to recruit 30 students (90 students in total) respectively for each professional fields of Electronics, Computer Science and Building, and we will carry out elite cultivation for the students. The length of schooling is 3 years, which is for cultivation of engineers at the level of full-time professional degree of graduates. When the students graduate from the institute, qualified students can acquire the graduate diploma and professional master’s degree of Tianjin University.

The scope of enrollment of TIEI is the undergraduates who will graduate in 2016 from major universities and can acquire the qualification of recommended exemption graduate in their universities and achieve comprehensive results of the first 30% of the grade in the first three years of undergraduate period.

The applicants should have relatively significant mathematics and science foundation and excellent capacities of English listening, speaking, reading and writing. And up to submission of the materials, there should be no courses for which the applicant fails to pass. Applicants who have published academic papers, made achievements in scientific research or acquired reward in domestic and overseas significant competitions will be considered preferentially.

For Electronics, it is planned to recruit undergraduates who have relevant background in electronic information engineering specialty, information and communication specialty, electronic science and technology specialty, microelectronic material and devices specialty and automation specialty.

For Computer Science, it is planned to recruit undergraduates who have relevant background in computer science and technology specialty, software engineering specialty, electronic information engineering specialty, communication engineering specialty, integrated circuit design and integrated system and etc.

For Building, it is planned to recruit undergraduates who graduate from relevant background in civil engineering specialty, science of building technology specialty, HVAC engineering specialty, environmental engineering, mechanical design manufacture and automation, energy and power engineering specialty, automation specialty and etc.

The above specialties are for reference only. The recommended test-free students of other specialties with sound foundation of mathematics and science courses can also apply for the enrollment.

III. Selection Flow and Application Materials

The application system for recommended exemption of Tianjin University opens from June 23^rd to September 27^th, 2015 (the day before opening of the RecommendedExemption Service System of Ministry of Education). The recommended exemption students intending to apply for TIEI shall fill out relevant information correctly during the opening period of the system.

The online application for TIEI shall be approved in three times, respectively July 15, September 1 and September 21. On each review day applying students by the day before the review day will be reviewed, after which the notice for a reexamination will be issued. Upon the second interview, the applicants shall provide the following application materials:

i. Transcript of undergraduate, stamped with official seal of Office of Teaching Affairs of the applicant’s university;

ii. One copy of national foreign language examination or certificate of qualification;

iii. If the applicant has published academic papers, made achievements in scientific research or acquired certificate of award, one copy should be provided;

iv. Application Form for Reexamination of Recommended Exemption Graduate of Tianjin University in 2016;

v. Application Form forTianjin International Engineering Institute in both English and Chinese.

IV. Reexamination

The reexaminations adopt the method of written examination and interview. The written examination is mainly about basic mathematical and science knowledge. The examination shall be set up and judged by teachers of each specialty.

The interview includes evaluations of listening and speaking capacities of foreign languages and comprehensive quality and capacities. The listening and speaking capacities of foreign languages account for 20 points, meanwhile evaluation of comprehensive quality and capacities accounts for 80 points. Test of listening and speaking capacities of foreign languages includes test of foreign language listening and test of spoken foreign languages. The evaluation of comprehensive quality and capacities includes evaluations of the ideological and political quality, professional quality, innovation capacity, scientific research and practice experience, teamwork capacity, entrepreneur spirit, sense of responsibility, vocational quality and expression and communication capacities of the examinees. The interview time for each student should be no less than 10 minutes.

V. Admission

The students obtaining Certificate of Qualified Interview shall apply to Tianjin International Engineering Institute within 2 days after the Recommended Exemption Service System of the Ministry of Education is opened, and shall be admitted after completing all the processes as required.
