(Correspondent: Liu Yingtong) On Nov. 16, 2017, in order to improve students’ news gathering and writing level and skills in the publicity work, teacher Zhu Baolin from publicity department of Tianjin University was invited to give a lecture of news gathering and writing for TIEI students and Qiushi Honors College students in Weijin Road Campus.

Zhu Baolin introduced the important points during news gathering and writing to the present students with vivid examples according to her own experience, explained how to make the news brief and clear to attract the interest of the readers, and shared her valuable experience accumulated during years of work. She said that the news title and beginning means half of a successful piece of news, and she guided the present students to grasp the subject elements of news via real cases, so as to give the enlightenment to the students during writing. In the final Q&A link, the present students raised questions over their doubts and difficulties during the routine news writing to teacher Zhu, and Zhu patiently gave explanations and guidance to them.

This lecture was of rich content and with constant climaxes. Students all felt themselves benefiting a lot from it. After the lecture, some students still hoped to acquire more information, so that they continuously discussed with teacher Zhu over the problems during news writing. The lecture was ended successfully in the careful answering of questions of teacher Zhu.
