A Teaching Seminar on the Major of Electronic Information System in Tianjin International Engineering Institute Was Held
On the afternoon of January 31st, a teaching seminar on the major of Electronic Information System in Tianjin International Engineering Institute was held in the meeting building of Tianjin University. Yu Jianxing, vice president of Tianjin University, was present in the seminar with teachers from Electronic Information Engineering School and the Educational Administration Office, and leaders from Qiushi Honors College. The invited enterprise representatives were Dong Zhiguo, vice general engineer from Tianjin Zhonghuan Electronic Information Co., Ltd.; Su Jianzhong, deputy director of Tianjin Jinhang Technique Institute; Xue Jingsheng, deputy division chief of the Information Communication Division in Public Security Bureau of Tianjin; Shi Yuli, vice general engineer from Tianjin Jinhang Computing Technology Research Institute; and Zhou Hongying , vice general manager of Tianjin Branch of China Iron Tower Company. The seminar was hosted by Shan Xiaolin, party secretary of Qiushi Honors College.
Yu Jianxing made a welcome speech on behalf of Tianjin University. Yu remarked that the current teaching level of our university is outstanding in China, while there still exists a gap in some aspects such as elimination mechanism and learning motivation mechanism between Tianjin University and top world universities, especially in the European engineering teaching model which is worth learning. Yu expressed his hope that, based on promoting the formulating of the cultivation plan for the major of Electronic Information System of Tianjin International Engineering Institute, this seminar could help to make full use of the advantage of French Higher Education in Engineering and the opportunity of French CTI certification, to combine industrial requirements on the cultivation of talents, to follow the cultivation standard of international engineering talents, to explore the reform orientation of engineering education, and to improve teaching quality and internationalization of engineering talents in our university. Yu also hoped that this seminar could help to recruit more overseas students, to strengthen international communication and to improve internationalization of our faculty through such activities as teaching in English and promoting communication between our faculty and the faculty from France as well.
During the seminar, Luo Zhen, deputy director of Qiushi Honors College, made a work report on International Engineering Institute, introducing the background and meaning of the establishment of the Institute and its development plan which stressed that cultivation system and curriculum construction are work emphasis in the future. Afterwards, the representatives from teachers and companies held a discussion on the cultivation plan of Electronic Information System. Prof. Hou Chunping from Electronic Information School of Tianjin University advised to determine cultivation goals based on specialty name and to make a further discussion on cultivation plan. Prof. Jin Zhigang advised to add class hours to some courses, because it is difficult to conduct systematical teaching of a course within a short period of class hours. Enterprise representatives answered some questions about the requirements on talents according to their working experience. Leaders from Qiushi Honors College sincerely listened to and answered the questions raised by representatives and accepted their advice with an open mind.
A Teaching Seminar on the Major of Computer Science in Tianjin International Engineering Institute Was Held
On the morning of February 1st, the teaching committee of Computer Science in Tianjin International Engineering Institute held a teaching seminar in the meeting building of Tianjin University. Teachers from School of Computer Science and Technology, School of Computer Software, and the Educational Administration Office and leaders from Qiushi Honors College were present at the seminar. Ma Fengning, chairman of Tianjin Shenzhou Haotian Science and Technology Company; Sun Ti, general manager of program center of Langchao Group; Gao Qite, senior engineer of Alipay Network Technology Company; Pan Wanghai, senior engineer of Baidu Company; and Li Mingyue, software engineer of TeleCommunication Systems Inc. (Tianjin) were present at the seminar as enterprise representatives. The seminar was hosted by Shan Xiaolin, party secretary of Qiushi Honors College.

Luo Zhen, deputy director of Qiushi Honors College, made a work report on International Engineering Institute, introducing the background of the establishment of the Institute, its working program and cultivation plan, pointing out its innovation and advantages over other international engineering institutes run by cooperation and stressing that the formulating of cultivation program is work emphasis in the future.
During the seminar, Wang Jianrong, a teacher from School of Computer Science and Technology, gave a detailed interpretation of the current cultivation scheme of Computer Science specialty from two perspectives, namely curriculum design and curriculum content. Based on personal teaching experience, Wang also provided valuable advice on the cultivation method of students in engineering institute. Afterwards, representatives from teachers and enterprises had a heated discussion on the cultivation scheme of Computer Science. Ma Fengning observed that talent cultivation goal is the prerequisite of curriculum design, and that diverse curriculum plans should be made regarding different cultivation goals. Gao Qite expressed his opinion on cultivation scheme from the perspective of the numbers of software and hardware engineers enterprises need. Other representatives also presented their opinions and put forward schemes about adding product courses and an emphasis on cultivating international perspective of students.
A Teaching Seminar was Held on Intelligent Architecture in Tianjin International Engineering Institute
On the afternoon of February 1st, a teaching seminar on Intelligent Architecture of Tianjin International Engineering Institute was held in the meeting building of Tianjin University. Yu Jianxing, vice president, was present and made a speech. Teachers from School of International Education, School of Architecture, School of Computer Science and Technology and Educational Administration Office and leaders from Qiushi Honors College participated in the seminar. Wei Jiaxin, general manager of CSCEC City Construction and Development Co., Ltd.; Xu Zongwu, chief architect of the headquarter of China Construction Engineering Design Group Co., Ltd.; Guan Mengmeng, vice general manager of US Guolu Investment Group; Ren Louni, deputy director of China National Engineering Research Center for Human Settlements of China Architecture Design Institute Co., Ltd.; Zhu Jie, secretary and deputy chief architect of Dean of Architecture Design Institute were present at the seminar as enterprise representatives. Liu Gang, vice dean of School of Architecture, gave a detailed introduction to the current cultivation scheme of Intelligent Architecture specialty from five aspects, namely, brief introduction to the field, cultivation scheme, cultivation method, curriculum and dissertation. Representatives from teachers and enterprises held a heated discussion on cultivation scheme of Intelligent Architecture specialty. Wei Jiaxin remarked that enterprises need a large number of international professionals and versatile talents, and spoke highly of the cultivation concept that International Engineering Institute pays attention to cultivating practical ability of students, and claimed that he would participate actively in the construction of Intelligent Architecture specialty. Xu Zongwu stressed the importance of integrated and oriented cultivation and put forward a cultivation method named “majoring in one, specializing in three”. Other representatives also presented their opinions and regarding the current problems they put forward such solutions as curriculum team, curriculum packet and independent course selection system for students.
It is reported that the first conference of teaching committee of International Engineering Institute has profound meaning to the specialty construction of International Engineering Institute. In the seminars, the cultivation schemes for postgraduates of Intelligent Architect specialty, Computer Science specialty and Electronic and Information System specialty were discussed respectively. Enterprises were invited to participate in the whole cultivation process of students in this Institute, realizing joint efforts of enterprises and Institute in drawing up cultivation plans and standard, in formulating teaching syllabus and curriculum content, in implementing the cultivation process, in order that the talent cultivation goal satisfies the need of social and industrial development.
