Tianjin University (TJU) President Li Jiajun met with the Polytech Nice-Sophia Delegation headed by Director Philippe Gourbesville on Dec 3, 2014. Hu Wenping, Assistant to TJU President, and representatives from relevant university offices and colleges, attended the meeting.
President Li Jiajun welcomed TJU’s longstanding friends and appreciated Polytech Nice-Sophia’s cooperation with TJU, particularly the work on student education giving TJU students a broader international perspective. Director Philippe expressed his hope to deepen cooperation with TJU in multi-fields, especially in mutual corporate communications. President Li consented to the proposal, stressing that further cooperation should be strengthened.
On the morning of Dec 3, Director Philippe and his delegation attended a meeting with TJU Qiushi College faculty. Present were Yu Jianxing, Vice President of TJU and Director of Qiushi College, heads of the Office of International Cooperation, the Office of Undergraduate Affairs, the School of International Education, and the Qiushi College, as well as teachers from Tianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI). President Yu believed TJU’s cooperation with Polytech Nice-Sophia provided a significant opportunity to the university engineering education reform and hoped Director Philippe’s visit could further promote TJU’s engineering talent training to a higher level. Luo Zhen, deputy director of Qiushi College, introduced the construction progress of TIEI and received positive comments from Director Philippe. Afterwards, Director Philippe gave suggestions on TIEI engineering training objectives, institute management system, and corporation internship projects. He also exchanged views with the relevant faculty staff.
In the afternoon, Director Philippe and his delegation met students of the first Sino-France Engineer Class at Qiushi College, talking in-depth about course syllabus, internships, and French visiting student projects, etc. Hearing that the students liked the teachers from Polytech Nice-Sophia and looked forward to more teachers from France, Director Philippe was glad and approved of more teachers from foreign countries. He appreciated the great efforts made by TJU to provide high-quality education for the students. Believing the center of world technological development would shift to China, he held that the students would have a promising future. Director Philippe also invited the students to exchange programs in France and showed the students the promotional video of Polytech Nice-Sophia.
