Tianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI) is a test plot cultivating engineers of postgraduate degree co-founded by Tianjin University and Nice-Sophia French Polytechnic Institute. Acting according to the TJU motto “Seeking Truth from Facts”, it consistently centers on “Upholding the Virtues and Nurturing Men of Ability”, and trains the future leading engineering talents that are high-level, internationalized and of innovative initiatives and practice capabilities in the light of the idea “Uniting Theory with Practice and Integrating Arts and Science, Tempering Moral Characters and Developing Talents”.

Since its foundation in May 2014, the Institute is constantly based on the engineering education, values the fostering of students’ mathematical elementary knowledge and engineering practice ability, keeps opening up and innovating, carries out reforms with keen determination, steadily launches the work and makes solid progress. The Institute sets up the executive council and corporation club jointly built by the university and the well-known domestic and overseas corporations, storing up talent resources for the corporations, exploring the dual training mechanism of corporations and universities, constructing a transforming platform of scientific and technological achievements for the university. The Institute is the first domestically to adopt the mode of training directly from the French engineer phase, playing an exemplary role in China’s aspect of majors and degrees. The Institute’s advances comply with TJU overall reform requirements and well serve TJU construction of the “Two First-Rate” (world first-rate university and first-rate discipline construction).
