On 20th, September, Dr Gu Lihui delivered a lecture to the students of Tianjin International Engineering Institute(TIEI) on overseas study, who is Chinese chief presentative of the overseas cooperation projects with University of California, Los Angeles(UCLA).
At the beginning, Dr Gu made analysis of the meaning of studying abroad from the perspective of individual, social and national development and shared his own experience of studying abroad to encourage students to be active and brave to pursue their study overseas, to strive side by side with the other industrious students studying abroad, so that they together can enhance their comprehensive capability and have chance to meet with world-class masters.
Then, Dr Gu introduced the educational system of California, US and elaborated on the history and teaching features of UCLA. Targeting at the graduates, Dr Gu introduced the overseas exchange program of Tianjin University and UCLA, and interpreted the mechanics and attentions for the graduate school application, the differences of the academic assessment, learning atmosphere and daily life in China and United States.
At the end, Dr Gu patiently answered questions from students in details and shared his views on the young generations with great expectations: young people should be ambitious and resolved to his ambition; with the ambition, young generations ought to endure hardship, to strengthen the minds and spread wings in the competitions on the wider stage.
TIEI is committed to cultivate international project leaders with international competitiveness, leadership, innovation and practical capacity and hope to promote the reform of education and teaching through exchanges and cooperation with foreign high level colleges and universities.
