Course Description
This course is a professional basic course in building environment and equipment engineering. The course covers a wide range of topics, including heat and mass transfer, external and internal environment of building, building materials, indoor sound, light and electricity, and physical and psychological response of human body to environment.
Content of this course includes:
external environment of building, including outdoor climate, motion law of the sun and the earth, and the influence on buildings,
internal environment of buildings, including main pollution source of indoor air and evaluation indexes of indoor environment,
thermal and humid environment of buildings, including the formation of thermal and humid load of buildings, calculation method of thermal and humid load,
the laws of human body’s response to thermal and humid environment, and research on thermal comfort,
luminous environment and acoustic environment of buildings, and
indoor environment requirements of industrial buildings.

Course Objectives
Students will understand the relationship between indoor environment and the physical and psychological aspects of human body, grasp basic theories to realize control and evaluation of indoor environment, grasp the basic principles for the calculation of thermal and humid load of buildings, and basic methods for creating suitable environments for work, production and life.

Course Syllabus
The law of influences of external environment on indoor climate, including influences of outdoor climates, and motion laws of the sun and the earth on buildings.
Internal environment of buildings, including generation of main pollution sources for indoor air, evaluation indexes for indoor environment, and physical meanings and calculation methods of ventilation rate, ventilation efficiency and air age.
Thermal and humid environment of indoor air, including the formation of indoor thermal and humid load, and calculation methods for thermal and humid load.
Law of human body responses to thermal and humid environment, and thermal comfort indexes of human body.
