In order to improve the cultivation quality in ourTianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI), to encourageoutstanding teachers of Tianjin University to actively participate in the teaching of TIEI, to promote the construction of faculties able to deliver courses all in English, to improve the teaching level and comprehensive professional proficiency of teachers, considering the actual situation of our institutes, regulations are specially formulated as follows:

1.Appointment Requirements of Teachers

1.Teachers should be exemplary in such aspects as political thoughts and ideology moralities

2. Lecturers are required to have vice professor (or superior) title

3. Lecturers are required to have more than three years of teaching experiences

4. Lecturers delivering professional courses are required to be familiar with the cutting edge of the discipline, having certain ability of scientific research and academic level

2. Appointment Procedures of Professional Course Teachers

1.Every course of TIEI is delivered by a teaching team of one lecturer, two teaching assistants and one experiment director. Teachers with ability of delivering courses in English are employed in priority order.

2.Teachers appointed are required to fill inTianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI) Teacher Qualification Formand the form will be examined and approved according to relevant procedures, which will be recorded by graduate school and other relevant departments. Teacher without the examination and approval must not deliver courses in TIEI.

3. Duty of Appointed Teachers

1.Teachers are demanded to impart knowledge and educate people, be scholarly mentors and beneficial friends. Teachers’ rigorous scholarship, serious style of study, strict discipline are demanded.

2.Teachers should be dedicated into his professional career and enhance their teaching. Teachers are required to prepare lessons and organize classes earnestly, choose proper teaching reference books, carry out the principle of course content: smaller quantity, better quality; timely update the teaching content with the development of disciplines, teach students in accordance with their aptitude and improve students' self-learning ability and practical ability; actively carry out teaching research and teaching reform, make efforts to improve teaching quality and to do the work of constructing teaching material well.

3.Teachers are required to deliver courses in accordance with the approved course syllabus, moreover, increasing or decreasing class hours at will are not allowed. In accordance with the schedules issued by the academic affairs department, teachers are not allowed to change the time and location of the classes at will, suspension of class and substitution for the teacher at will are also not allowed.

4.When teachers may not accomplish their teaching task for certain reason or temporary adjustment (transfer) of class are need to be made, teachers should fill in theTianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI) Course Schedule Changing Forma week before the transfer being made. The transfer should be made after the approval of the supervisor dean of TIEI and the transfer is recorded by the teaching management staff of the Institute and the graduate school. No more than three times of class transfer are allowed in each term.

5.Teachers are required to submit grades via “Graduate Management Information System” within ten working days after the course assessment (within twenty working days after the submission of major projects such as course papers) and submit a set of assessment materials: transcript, examination questions, examination paper answers, grading standards and the examination papers to the teaching management department of TIEI to make records.

4. Teachers' Encouragement Policy

1.For teachers from Tianjin University who teach professional courses in Tianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI), their income depends on their teaching languages and technical titles. Teachers who teach in Chinese will be paid 100 RMB per class hour. Teachers who teach in both Chinese and English will be paid 200 RMB per class. Teachers without senior technical titles who teach in English will be paid 250 RMB per class. Teachers with senior technical titles who teach in English will be paid 300 RMB per class.

2.Foreign experts who teach in English will be paid € 50 per class (after-tax), or the equivalent corresponding currency if experts come from non-euro-zone countries.

3.Languages teachers will be paid RMB 100 per English class and RMB 150 per French class.

4.For courses arranged in conjunction with other colleges, the corresponding tuition fees will be paid based on the consultation and the proportion of our students in class.

5.For Business mentors who teach in Tianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI), their income depends on their teaching languages. Class taught in Chinese will be paid RMB 100 per hour. Class taught in Chinese and English will be paid RMB 150 per hour. Class taught in English will be paid RMB 200 per hour.

6.Teachers with good teaching effect and outstanding achievements will be actively recommended to participate in the selection of outstanding teachers. The investigation results of teachers should be used as the basis for the evaluation of teachers at the end of the year and the quality assessment of this subject.

7.If there are no special instructions, all the above tuition fees mean pre-tax remuneration. In addition to the above provisions, subject to the TIEI Council and the Steering Committee for Education and Instruction to deliberate and determine.
