According to the situation of our institute, the regulation is specially made to really achieve the master's project training objective of China-France International Engineering Institute，improve the education quality of teaching，and encourage excellent teachers of relevant colleges to participate in student development work of International Engineering Institute actively.
1. The Constructing Mode of Graduate Student Supervisor Team
The objective of China-France engineer project is to cultivate application-oriented and high-level talents. Computer technology teachers’ team, electronics and communication engineering teachers’ team and building teachers’ team are set up relying on the school of computer, the school of information and the school of architecture respectively.
In principle, the president who is in charge of the project for each college should be a leader of the supervisor group. The leader will guide scientific research, teaching, practice and so on as a whole. Hiring 8-10 teachers to be members of supervisor team and they accomplish education work of graduate students for China-France master project together.
2. The Appointment Conditions of Graduate StudentSupervisors
According to Opinions of Tianjin University on Post Selection of Graduate Student Supervisors (Graduate School of Tianjin University [2014] NO.13), and the document The Implementation Details of Professional Degree Graduate Student Supervisor Selection and Assessment Work (Trial) made by sub-committees, International Engineering Institute makes the following supplementary provisions for the appointment of members of supervisor group:
1) The supervisor shall have guidance teacher’s qualification of relevant professional degree master, and shall not be limited by titles.
2) The supervisor is required to recognize the postgraduate education concept and system of the International Engineering Institute.
3) Engineering practice experience, frontier and horizontal topic with enterprise cooperation.
4) The supervisor needs to understand the combination of production and research guidance model.
3. The Appointment Procedure of Graduate Student Supervisors
In principle, the selection work of supervisor group members of China-France engineer project is implemented for once a year, dominated by directors of relevant institutes, identify the list of supervisor team members by the end of June each year, related colleges and International Engineering Institute keep in the archives for the record.
1) Personal application. Applicants submit application materials such asMaterials Compilationto the relevant colleges.
2) College audit. Each college examines the applicant's eligibility and materials according to the rules, identify the list of supervisor team members of the next year and publicize the results of employment.
3) College filing. After relevant colleges summarize the list and related materials of graduate student supervisors, each college and International Engineering Institute keep in the archives for the record together. After the record of colleges, the supervisor can be able to perform the rights of the supervisor team members.
4. The Duty of Graduate Student Supervisor Team
International Engineering Institute implements a system of supervisor team, and the team’s primary responsibility is to cultivate postgraduates, and take charge of students’ ideological and political education, subject frontier guidance, scientific research method and practice instruction, and so on.
1) Members of supervisor team are responsible for the postgraduates’ ideological and political education, understanding and mastering students’ state of mind to fully focus on their growth.
2) Supervisor team should take part in the admission criteria formulation of the professional graduate student, participate in the entrance examination proposition, evaluating the test paper, the reexamination and admission and some related work, as well as the publicity of recruitment.
3) Guide graduate students to complete the training process. Supervisor team is in charge of guiding graduate courses, arranging and checking the graduate student’s teaching practice and social practice and other aspects of the work of the training. Supervisor team also should assist in making periodic examination of graduate student.
4) Guide the thesis topic selection and proposal of graduate student. Supervisor team should guide the students to choose their research direction, make sure the topic, review the topic selection report, and formulate the thesis work plan. Guide and encourage postgraduates to take part in national and local major project research. Maintain a strict standard on graduate students’ thesis proposal, review each proposal carefully according to the cultivation requirement and some related documents of our school, and submit modification opinions. Supervise the execution of graduate thesis work plan.
5) Review graduate student thesis. Supervisor team should guide postgraduates to write degree thesis specifically, make a realistic evaluation of the degree thesis according to its academic level and practical meaning after reading it carefully. For qualified thesis (in content and format), agree it to attend the defense; for others, reject it. Supervisor team should actively recommend the excellent thesis to school.
