Course Description

The course is optional designed for Engineering Master of Computer Science in TIEI. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is business management software, typically a suite of integrated applications, that a company can use to collect, store, manage and interpret data from many business activities. The applications that make up the system share data across the various departments (manufacturing, purchasing, sales, accounting, etc.) that provide the data. This course mainly introduces the basic concepts and principles of ERP, the basic functions of ERP system, how to use the ERP application software for production control and the methods of ERP implementation. Students will master the basic principles of ERP and be familiar with the ERP application software.

Prerequisite

• Fundamentals of Management: understand the basic concepts and principles of management

• Fundamental Computer Application: understand the basic working principles of computer, be familiar with the basic operation of computer

Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to help students master the basic concepts and principles of ERP, the basic functions of ERP application software and be familiar with the business from order to production, to the sales process, as well as in the ERP implementation. After this course, students should be able to:

• Understand the formed and development process of ERP, familiar operation principle of enterprise production,

• Master using ERP for production control main process (production planning, main production plans and material needs plans), understand the main process and the principle of each step, familiar the analysis methods of ERP in the various stages, and to

• Master the structure of ERP system, preliminary master implementation method of ERP, and learn to use ERP software to the simulation of simple production process.

• Concepts and principles of ERP: the basic concepts of ERP, the development of ERP

• The basic structure of the ERP application software: the composition and function of ERP application software

• Sales management: the business process of sales management

• Production plan management: Master Production Schedule(MPS), Material Requirement Planning(MRP), Capacity Requirements Planning(CRP)

• Procurement and inventory management: the business process of procurement management, the business process of inventory management

• Financial and cost management: the business process of financial management, cost control and management

• Human resource management: analysis of human resource management, the business process of human resource management

• Quality management: quality control, quality analysis, the business process of quality management

• The implementation of ERP: the implementation process of ERP, how to use SAP
