Course Description

This course is a basic specialized course for master students of buildings whose bachelor major isn't in civil engineering, including the material of masonry, the construction of masonry structure, calculating method of masonry wall, seismic construction.

Prerequisite

Theoretical mechanics, Mechanics of materials, Mechanics of structures.

Course Objectives

  • This course should enable students to understand the concept of masonrystructure, calculate masonry wall, know about the size of members and constructions, judge the nationality of the masonry structures.

Course Syllabus

  1. Masonry material and mechanical properties.

  2. Calculation of bearing capacity of unreinforced masonry.

  3. Masonry construction measure.

  4. Beam, ring beam and cantilever beam.
