Course Description
This course is optional for Engineering Master of Computer Science in TIEI. It mainly introduces the basic technology of modern wireless communication and related system and contains the basic concepts, important wireless communication standards and related technical development trend appeared in wireless communication system. By learning this course, students will be able to understand the most cutting-edge communication techniques and design simple mobile communication system.

Prerequisite
Circuit Theory: understanding the basic concepts and analysis methods of circuit
Analog Circuit: understanding the concept of diode, amplifier, modulation, demodulation and frequency conversion
Digital Circuit: understanding the principle and characteristics of combinational logic circuits and sequential logic circuits
Signals and System: understanding the method and process of time domain analysis and frequency domain analysis for continuous signal and discrete signal
Modern Communications Technology: Mastering the principles of modulation, transmission, multiplexing, and multiple access techniques.

Course Objectives
This course describes the general principles of mobile communication and networking technology and it is a theory, engineering, technical and very practical course. After this course, students should be able to:
Understand the basic concept and principle of mobile communication and networking technology,
Understand the principle of information receiving and transmission process by analysing common communication protocol with the mobile communication technology, and to
Be able to design some simple mobile communication systems and lay a necessary theoretical foundation for the maintenance, research and development of mobile communication system.

Overview: the development of mobile communication, characteristics, composition, working mode, multiple access technology, encoding and modulation technology
Radio wave propagation and interference in mobile channel: Antenna, radio wave propagation, diversity receiving technique, noise, interference
Networking technology: Frequency management and effective utilization, shared multichannel technique, mobile management in mobile communication
The second generation mobile communication system: GSM, CDMA system
The third generation mobile communication system: WCDMA, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA system
Future mobile communication system: introduction, architecture and key technology to 4G system
