Course Description

This course is a basic specialized course for master students of buildings whose bachelor major isn't in civil engineering, including the character of steel and concrete materials, the mechanical behavior, the calculating method of bending, shearing, axial compression and eccentric compression of reinforced concrete members.

Prerequisite

Theoretical mechanics, Mechanics of materials, Mechanics of structures.

Course Objectives

  • This course should enable students to understand the concept of reinforced concrete, calculate beam and column members, know about the size of members and constructions, judge the nationality of the reinforce concrete structures.

Course Syllabus

  1. General construction requirements for compression members.

  2. Axial compressive bearing capacity of normal pressure.

  3. Eccentric compressive bearing capacity of normal pressure.

  4. Bearing capacity calculation method for eccentric compression member of symmetric reinforcement for rectangular cross sectional compression
