Fighting the Pandemic Together | Online Salon - Skillful Use of Mind Mapping to Help Efficient Scientific Research

When carrying out scientific research, we need a lot of literature research, accumulation, and summary, so as to form our own knowledge system and pioneer innovative thinking. When reading the literature, students may encounter the following problems:

With long literary pieces, they can't grasp the key points.

It takes a long time to read, so they can't remember the content.

There are a lot of articles, so they can't figure out the logical relationship.

Don't worry! Wang Donghua, Associate Professor of the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology of Tianjin University, was invited to attend the Online Salon held by Tianjin International Engineering Institute. He helped the students have a clear understanding of the literature and a clear direction with the skillful use of mind mapping focusing on the topic of Document Analysis and innovation. This Online Salon was presided over by Guan Jing, Vice Dean of Tianjin International Engineering Institute.

Clear direction

In the lecture, Prof. Wang Donghua, copiously quoting authoritative works, described many scientific research cases of Yuan Longping, Tu Youyou, Galileo, Newton, and other scientists, and analyzed the importance of "resource competitiveness" through the classification of competitiveness. He emphasized that high-level scientific research can be done by many people if conditions permit, and there are more opportunities at the scientific frontier. Under the condition of the same learning time, learning content is more important. Meanwhile, learning should be regarded as the means to discover and utilize opportunities.

Efficient innovation

Prof. Wang Donghua listed many pieces of literature that were relatively new to the research field of the participants. He guided the students to create keywords through one-site demonstrations and interactive exercises in the event that they were completely unfamiliar with the concept of literature, and he used practical mind-mapping tools with strong operability to enable the students to be fearless when facing many unfamiliar concepts and to realize repeated memories by keep repeating the keywords, thus ordering their thoughts in an efficient manner, learning to analyze individual literature, thematic series literature, and expert series literature, and generating lasting interest in learning and scientific research; Through the "pragmatic learning method" based on mind mapping, concept mapping, analogic reasoning, and other means and tools, the students can directly enter the forefront of learning and innovation, thus forming high-efficiency and high-yield learning modes and maintaining core competitiveness.

As Prof. Wang Donghua said, learning is actively looking for opportunities, finding innovative points in learning, and constantly upgrading and optimizing in the learning process. Meanwhile, the point of learning is not the initial speed but the "accelerated speed" of the effective information obtained in unit time and space. He hopes that all the students' research fields are their favorite directions and that they can create value for society through continuous efforts.

Guan Jing, Vice Dean, said that it is believed that through the detailed explanation of Prof. Wang Donghua, it will be helpful for the students to choose their research directions, read, and summarize the literature in the future. He also sent a message to students that in the future, they should apply what they have learned, base themselves on the frontier of disciplines, improve their core competitiveness, and publish more good articles with greater contributions to society. The students also said that this lecture has a great inspiration for their future scientific research, and they have benefited a lot and that they will clarify their goals and directions, conduct efficient scientific research, and strive for innovation.

Wang Donghua, Associate Professor of the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology of Tianjin University and Visiting Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, has served as the technical consultant of many companies and obtained many awards, including the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of the Ministry of Education. He has been engaged in educational research for many years and has deeply studied cutting-edge educational theories and methods, such as the effective teaching method, Internet + education, and educational neuroscience. He has unique insights and rich practical experiences in future educational trends, top-notch innovative talent training, theories and practice of science and engineering education, and other directions.
