Dr. Zhu received her Ph.D. in Chemical Process Equipment from Tianjin University. She is currently a Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor in the School of Architecture at Tianjin University.

She is the President of APEC Sustainable Energy Center (APSEC). She is mainly engaged in research on low-carbon energy transition and its application in buildings and cities. She has led 42 research projects, including three national projects, such as the National Key Research and Development Programme projects and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. She and her group at Tianjin University have published more than 200 refereed journal and conference papers. Dr. Zhu also has been awarded 29 Chinese innovative patents.

Education

Ph D (Chemical Process Equipment), Tianjin University, 2001/09 - 2005/04

MS (Chemical Engineering), Tianjin University, 1999/09 - 2001/04

BS (Chemical Engineering), Central South University, 1995/09 - 1999/07

Research Interests

(1) Study on low carbon building design and technology integration. Among the relevant research topics carried out by the team, we focus on interdisciplinary research in building facades and energy technology, including the application of solar technologies such as BIPV. Exploratory work in this area can better support the development of carbon reduction in buildings.

(2) Research on energy planning and key technologies for low-carbon towns. Among the relevant research topics carried out by the team, we focus on interdisciplinary research in urban planning and regeneration design and energy technologies, including the development and application of renewable energy technologies such as photovoltaic power generation at the urban scale. Exploratory work in this area can better support China's future cities' low-carbon development and energy transition.
