From March 15 to 17, 2023, Hu Wenping, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Managing Vice President of Tianjin University, led a delegation to Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, to deeply dock and communicate with the leaders of Changzhou City and principals of relevant departments and representatives of our alumni associations in various regions of Jiangsu Province, and promote the preparation and organization work of the 12th World Alumni Congress of Tianjin University to be carried out in an in-depth and comprehensive manner. Relevant principals of Office of Alumni and Fund Affairs, Propaganda Department, Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Science and Technology, School of Architecture and School of Future Technology accompany him to go to Changzhou City.

The Congress Preparation Meeting was held in Zhongwu Hotel, Changzhou City. The delegation of Tianjin University, Jiang Pengyu, Deputy Major of Changzhou City, Zhang Yue, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and the United Front Work Department of Changzhou City and President of Shengxuanhuai Research Society of Changzhou City, relevant unit leaders of the Party Committee and Municipal Government of Changzhou City, Wang Rongtai, President of Changzhou Alumni Association of Tianjin University, Fang Deguang, President of Jiangsu Alumni Association and some alumni attended the meeting. Hu Wenping, in his speech, briefly introduced the work situation of Tianjin University alumni and the holding situation of previous alumni congresses, reviewed the previous communication and docking results, and expressed his heartfelt thanks for Changzhou City's attention and support for the congress and hard work of Jiangsu alumni. He hoped to communicate with the participants fully, pool the wisdom and efforts of everyone, and strive to build the 12th World Alumni Congress of Tianjin University into a grand meeting to extensively unite the hearts of alumni all over the world, enhance the reputation and influence of the university and serve the local social and economic development. Jiang Pengju said in his speech that, as Changzhou City has a profound historical origin and a realistic connection with Tianjin University, he would actively support the holding of the World Alumni Congress of Tianjin University and sincerely hoped to draw the concentric circles of win-win development with Tianjin University and its alumni at home and abroad. Gu Yu, Deputy Director of the Office of Alumni and Fund Affairs of our university made a report on the contents such as congress holding background and preparation situation. The leaders and guests attending the meeting made an in-depth and comprehensive communication on relevant specific problems and were full of expectations for successful holding of the congress.

After the preparatory meeting, Hu Wenping and his delegation, accompanied by the leaders of Jiangsu Alumni Association and Changzhou Alumni Association , made a detailed investigation for the congress venue, and carried out an on-site seminar and form a preliminary implementation scheme according to the arrangement needs such as meeting, forum and dining.

During the period in Changzhou City, the delegation of Tianjin University visited the "Two Lakes" Innovation Zone Planning Exhibition Hall, Sheng Xuanhuai Memorial Hall and Zhang Tailei Memorial Hall, and Changzhou "China in Brief" Publication Press founded by Wang Rongtai, President of Changzhou Alumni Association, and made a special visit to some alumni of our university as selected graduates.

It is reported that, the World Alumni Congress is a brand and business card of Tianjin University alumni work, which has been successfully held for eleven years since the first one was held in 1988, building a platform for communication, cooperation and win-win among Tianjin University and its alumni at home and abroad and the host city. The 12th World Alumni Congress of Tianjin University is scheduled to be held in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province from April 21 to 23, which will be hosted by General Association of Alumni Tianjin University and jointly undertaken and co-organized by Jiangsu, Changzhou, Nantong, Suzhou, Wuxi, Yangzhou, Xuzhou, Lianyungang and Zhangjiagang Alumni Associations of Tianjin University as well as Changzhou Charity Federation and other relevant units. The theme of congress is: to follow the footsteps of pioneers and bravely bear the mission of the university. The Congress will promote an in-depth and extensive communication and cooperation among alumni at home and abroad, Tianjin University and host city, draw the concentric circles of university + alumni + regional development and gather the majestic power of Tianjin University alumni at home and abroad to enhance the influence and reputation of Tianjin University.
