Course Description

The course is designed for Engineering Master of Computer Science in TIEI. This course provides an overview of e-commerce from technological and managerial perspectives. The main contents can be summarized into three main areas: the basic theory of electronic commerce and the realization of technology, business management and marketing practices, social and legal environment. This course aims to familiarize students with the emerging electronic commerce technology, to master the basic concept of the electronic commerce, implementation techniques and coping strategies. Students should macro grasp the methods to deal with the electronic commerce, grasp the enterprise management method under the network environment, and lay a solid foundation for the operation of the modern enterprise management and information system.

Prerequisite

  • Students should have a basic understanding of information system, the Internet and the Web

  • Network communication technology: understand the contents of data communication, network connection and protocol

  • Internet Technology: understand the concept and working principle of Internet

Course Objectives

By learning this course, students are required to have a comprehensive understanding of e-commerce, understand and master the basic methods of the electronic commerce operation of enterprise under network environment, and to lay a solid theoretical basis for the enterprise implementation of e-business strategy.Specifically, students are supposed to:

  • Understand and manage the interplay between people, technologies and organisations that underlies e-business,

  • Understand the technologies and processes of e-business infrastructure,

  • Develop, test, deploy, maintain and measure e-business strategies, systems, processes and applications for an organisation,

  • Exploit new business models and marketplace structures enabled by electronic communications,

  • Communicate the technical and managerial aspects of e-business,

  • Understand, manage and control e-business risks and security, and to

  • Explain the impact of e-business on social, economic, legal and ethical issues in organisations and society.

  • E-Commerce mode application: concept mode, application mode, transaction mode, function benefit

  • E-commerce system development: development methods, operating platform, system structure, website construction, development tools and environment

  • E-commerce implementation technology: network and communication technology, EDI technology, security technology, database technology, electronic payment technology

  • E-commerce network marketing: network marketing overview, theoretical basis, strategies and methods

  • E-commerce security and legal construction: the electronic commerce risk management, security mechanism, security technology, laws and regulations
