The First Lesson for Water Engineering Students — When you make efforts, success will come.

On the afternoon of September 26, Professor Philippe Gourbesville, French Dean of TIEI, brought the first lesson for the freshmen of Water Engineering and talked with them about the hydroinformation challenges and solutions.

First, with an example of water governance issues, Prof. Philippe inspired the students to participate in discussions and thinking. He used a vivid video to demonstrate the concept of smart water. Later, he gave the students an in-depth analysis of the challenges and solutions of water management at this stage, and combined with his teaching and research experience to explain the future ideal water environment system. The students actively made a discussion and interacted with Prof. Philippe about their doubts in their research fields and the direction of future employment. Prof. Philippe hoped that everyone should pay a solid foundation to their professional knowledge, improve their English skills, and strive to become a leading engineering talent with competitiveness, practicality and leadership.

At last, Prof. Philippe said that as a student of TIEI, after three years’ study, each one should not only have solid basic knowledge, but also have international exchanges and learning experiences, expand the international perspective, which could play an important role in the future employment and further study in the field of engineering. We believe that after three years’ study and practice, everyone will have a bright future.
