In the morning of October 24th, Zhong Denghua, President of Tianjin University met with Philippe Gourbesville, the former president of Polytech Nice, and Guan Jing, vice director of the Tianjin International Engineering Institute, Yin Na, in charge of the European Union Scholarship of Polytech Group, and the relevant personnel of the Intelligent Water Institute of Nice University, attended the meeting at the VIP room of the conference building in Tianjin University Weijin Road Campus.
Zhong Denghua welcomed Philip Gourbesville's re-visit and highly affirmed Philip Gourbesville's efforts and contributions to the construction of Tianjin International Engineering Institute. Philip Gourbesville expressed his appreciation to Zhong Denghua’s welcome and affirmation, and gave a detail report to Zhong Denghua about the exploration and progress of Tianjin University and the Polytech Nice in the multidisciplinary integration of engineering majors.
Subsequently, Zhong Denghua and Philip Gourbesville had in-depth discussions on the application for the Commission of the Titles of Engineer (CTI) certification for the new majors and the application of engineering majors with interdisciplinary integration in various fields. It is expected that Tianjin University and Nice University will carry out more in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the fields of personnel training and scientific and technological innovation in the future.
In May 2014, Tianjin University took advantage of the elite training model of French engineers and took root in China's land to create pilot area of engineering talents training at the level of master's degree -- Tianjin International Engineering Institute (TIEI). With the assistance of Polytech Nice, after more than four years’ construction and development, TIEI successfully passed Commission of the Titles of Engineer (CTI) certification and European Engineering Education (EUR-ACE) certification in 2017, and received the highest grade six-year certification of the engineer diploma awarded by CTI. The institute's school-running characteristics and education quality have been highly recognized by the international education community.
