Delegation from Tianjin International Engineering Institute Attend the Third China Higher Education Summit Held in Chengdu

(Correspondent Wang Wenjie) On October 19-20, 2018, the 3rd China Higher Education Summit was held in Chengdu with the theme of "New Age First-class Engineering Education Construction: Innovation and Action". Guan Jing, associate Director of TIEI, and Wang Wenjie, teaching secretary, went to Chengdu to visit and study. The summit was divided into the main forum and sub-forum. Fan Guimei, investigator of the Education Committee of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Jiang Yajun, deputy director-general of the Sichuan Provincial Education Department, Zhang Daliang, vice president of the Chinese Higher Education Institute, Tan Jianrong, professor of Zhejiang University, Zeng Yong, President of Electronic Technology University, CEO of TreeJoy Associates, UIUC Honorary Professor David E. Goldber, Gu Peihua, Director of Tianjin University New Engineering Education Center and other experts and university leaders were invited to the summit.

This summit focuses on the reform and development of international and domestic higher engineering education. And all the participants discussed and communicated with each other from many aspects such as the upgrading and transformation of traditional engineering majors, the layout and construction of emerging engineering majors, classroom revolution and teaching innovation, the construction of modern industrial institutes and future technical institutes, innovation and entrepreneurship education, and engineering professional certification and exchanged with undergraduate professional quality standards, which helped to stand at the new historical starting point, and China's engineering education will start again.

During the conference, we listened to the thoughts and practical experience about the construction of "new engineering" of Tongji University, Shantou University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Chongqing University, etc. For example, Shantou University bases on learning results by building "thinking+" and "skills+ " "Spiritual +" general education curriculum system; Tongji University takes the individual learning development as the core, and builds a concentric circle of education model; Chongqing University "2+2", "3+1", "1.5+2.5", "1+3" system and other forms of talent-integrated talent training mode, etc. which provide valuable experience and innovative ideas for the college to actively building a general education curriculum system, reorganizing the traditional engineering professional training program, declaring Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, deepening the form and connotation of school-enterprise cooperation to meeting the talent training reform brought by the new industrial revolution.

It is reported that the China Higher Engineering Education Summit is directed by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education and the Education Committee of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and sponsored by the China Higher Education Institute. It aims to further promote the reform of higher engineering education more widely and comprehensively promote the quality and efficiency of higher engineering education. The summit is playing an increasingly active role in serving national strategy, leading economic and social development, building a strong education country, and cultivating new people in the era of national rejuvenation.
