On Nov. 6th, TIEI launched the teaching seminar jointly with the school of civil engineering, school of precision instrument & opto-electronics engineering and school of medical engineering & translational medicine research on the establishing of two new specialties of TIEI --- Hydroinformatics & Water Engineering, and Bioengineering. Gao Xueping, dept. director of water conservancy and hydropower department, Li Fawen, teacher of civil engineering school, He Feng, dept. vice director of biomedicine & scientific instrument department, Yu Hui, teacher of precision instrument & opto-electronics engineering school, Zhao Jingjing, teacher of medical engineering & translational medicine research school, Yu Mei, academic vice director, all the faculty of teaching affairs team of TIEI attended this seminar. The seminar centered on the discussion of TIEI launching 2 new specialties, including the teaching work of formulating the teaching outlines, training schemes and courses requirements. The seminar was hosted by Yu Mei, academic vice director of TIEI.
Firstly, Yu Mei gave detailed introduction to the attendees about the establishment and development of TIEI, talents training system and structure, the general situation of current specialties, faculty level, lecturing forms, basic situation of students and the employment. She particularly emphasized that TIEI had passed the authoritative accreditation with the highest level of 6 years granted. She said that the training schemes of new specialties should be formulated according to CTI requirements, and then explained the teachers’ lecturing forms and raised several demands and hopes. After that, the faculty of teaching affairs team provided TIEI teaching materials to the teacher representatives of the 3 schools for reading and reference. At last, the teacher representatives put forward several questions towards the discussion content and the materials of the seminar, and Yu Mei, as well as the teachers of TIEI gave detailed answers towards these questions.
TIEI always aims to cultivate the future international engineering leading talents and provide talents and intelligence support for the major developing strategies of the nation. The establishment of the 2 specialties this time also embodies that TIEI is continuously progressing and developing to be built into a global first-rate high level international engineering institute.
