On October 31st, 2017, to promote the construction and developing of “Emerging Engineering Education”, comprehensively improve the university-running quality, Gong Jinlong, division chief, Zhao Wei, vice division chief, Zong Ying and Liu Jie, teachers from Academic Affairs Office arrived at TIEI. Vice directors Luo Zhen and Yu Hong, vice party secretary Zhang Tianying of Qiushi Honors College, all the faculty of Qiuishi Honors College and TIEI attended this seminar.
Firstly, Gong Jinlong, division chief of academic affairs office gave instructions to the attendees of the 4 parts content including the reform background, overall framework, documents explanation and detailed proposals of the education comprehensive reform initiative. He said that the new era has new requirements towards the higher education, and it is urgent to develop the higher education field with TJU characteristics, that is international first-rate and high level. He conveyed the conceptions and undertaking proposals of the comprehensive reform initiative of academic affairs office to the attendees --- that under the developing background of “Emerging Engineering Education”, we should adhere to strengthening the moral education and cultivating talents, centering on the development of students, being guided by “undergraduate-postgraduate integration cultivation”, and seizing the opportunity of “Emerging Engineering Education Construction” so as to construct the talents training system of “Chinese characteristics, world first-rate and TJU characters”.
Then, Gong had the discussion with the present teachers. The education comprehensive reform under the new era and new trends requires the new changes in our training model and managing forms towards the students. We must constantly discuss in-depth and continuously perfect many aspects. And the overall target of building Tianjin University into world first-rate university by the year of 2045 demands us to persist in the exploration and innovations in the teaching reform, additionally, the great efforts and joint coordination of all the schools are also needed for the realization of this target.
The construction of strong nation in education is the fundamental project for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. And the building of world first-rate university with Chinese characteristics, the training of the first-class excellent talents adapting to the calls of new era, as well as making efforts to contribute to the great historic cause of realizing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation are all the significant strategic missions for the progress of education.
