From July 11th to July 19th, Philippe Gourbesville, president of Polytech Nice-Sophia comes to Tianjin University and carries out one-week visit and work exchange in Tianjin International Engineering Institute.

　　In forenoon of July 14th, President Philippe carried out symposium with teacher representatives from the three specialties of building, computer science and electronicsTianjin International Engineering Institute . Yu Jianxing, the vice president, attended the symposium. The symposium was hosted by Shan Xiaolin, secretary of the party committee of Qiushi Honors College.

　　First, Yu Jianxing extended warm welcome to President Philippe on behalf of the university and Tianjin International Engineering Institute. Then, he introduced the overall situation of current recruitment and teaching work of the school and especially highlighted that Tianjin University is always student-centered, pays attention to the education concepts of EQ education and personality cultivation of the students, which are approved by the French side president.

　　In communication with the professional teachers, President Philippe reviewed the situation of visit to laboratories of building specialty and computer specialty on July 13th . He was very happy. He said that, Tianjin University has abundant education resources and teacher resources. It has various kinds of capacities to carry out engineering education well. As long as all the school staffs can be united as one and take the development vision and strategy of International Engineering Institute as the common goal, the institute will be an excellent international engineering education institution.

    　President Philippe suggested that, responsible persons of specialties and professional teachers should get rid of the restriction of college and professional background furthur and build up deeper contact and exchange in the collective of Tianjin International Engineering Institute, including making use of their respective advantages in respect of course content updating, practice project design, research on innovative subjects and etc and providing practical courses for students which are based on actual problems and have true innovative significance in engineering application. At the same time,Tianjin International Engineering Institute plans to establish the innovation center, which is the carrier for practical learning of students and provides interdisciplinary cross-cooperative platform. This is the important significance of Engineering Institute. Teachers attending the meeting respond actively. They all thought that it was a very valuable opportunity. Such interdisciplinary cooperation and innovation platform is very helpful for talent cultivation and scientific research innovation of Engineering Institute. President Philippe also suggested taking this symposium as the opportunity to establish more flexible teacher exchange mechanism, which has active significance for teaching improvement and scientific research communication. The teachers also discussed with President Philippe on teaching methods, including how to realize practical course teaching, how to make the course combine closely with current hot spot technical problems and cutting-edge findings of the industries.
