Cloud Lecture for Students of Smart Water Engineering by French Director of TIEI

On March 31st, Professor Philippe Gourbesville, the French Director of TIEI, held a cloud lecture for all the students of the 2019 Smart Water Engineering Specialty.

At the beginning, Philippe greeted the recent situation of students carefully. He hoped that during this special period, TIEI students could learn more at home through online lectures. During the lecture, Philippe used the extremely rainfall and flood events that occurred in the French Riviera in October 2015 as the theme and case. Through multiple video materials and radar basic reflective pictures, he reproduced the heavy rainfall in the area at that time. He used detailed data and charts to professionally describe the causes and consequences of heavy rainfall.

Philippe guided students to learn in five aspects"hydro-logical and hydraulic physical processes of extreme events" , "understand vulnerability, risk and resilience concepts" , "needs from exposed populations" , "understand engineering needs in hydro-logical and hydraulic analysis" and " what is a crisis and consequences".

Students listened attentively and asked positively. They conducted in-depth discussions with professor on lecture content and professional issues.

In the end, Professor Philippe wished everyone all the best and encouraged students to persist in the spirit of innovation, develop new methods, learn new skills and make persistent efforts to become an elite engineer .
