On the morning of April 21th, 2021, the first doctor of engineering exchange meeting of International Engineering Institute of Tianjin University was held in Conference Room 206, East Side Building, 20th Floor, Weijin Road Campus. Shan Xiaolin, Secretary of the Party committee of Qiushi Honors College, Yuan Xubo, Dean, Guan Jing, Deputy Director, attended the meeting. Wang Chunxin, Li Xuebin, Zhang Qingman, Zhang Wenbin and Liu Shen, the first doctor of engineering of Tianjin International Engineering Institute, attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Chen Wei, counsellor of Qiushi Honors College.

　　First of all, Chen Wei, on behalf of the teachers and students of the whole college, extended a warm welcome to the arrival of the doctoral students, and asked the doctoral students to introduce themselves one by one to enhance mutual understanding.

　　Then, Yuan Xubo introduced the development of Qiushi Honors College and International Engineering Institute, as well as the recent key work of the Department.

　　Taking Xi Jinping，General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), speech at Tsinghua University on April 19 as a starting point, he explained the problems to be solved in the development of China's higher education and the construction of Tianjin University’s “Emerging Engineering Education”, and put forward the expectation for Ph.D. students. “I hope that while successfully completing your studies, you can become an important link for school-enterprise cooperation, be a leader in the integration of scientific research and industry, and build a platform for student internship and employment.”

　　Shan Xiaolin said that he sincerely invites all Ph.Ds. to actively participate in the construction of the college. He hopes that doctoral students will strengthen exchanges with undergraduates and masters students as corporate mentors. This will become an important part of the construction of the college. Guan Jing expressed the hope that everyone will actively participate in the construction of the "School of Future Technology" of Tianjin University and become builders and witnesses.

　　Finally, entering the link of free communication, the doctoral students agree with the development concept of Qiushi Honors College and were full of enthusiasm for the construction of "Emerging Engineering Education”. The participants had in-depth discussions on the integration and development of scientific research and industry, the development direction of new sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation, the layout and needs of future industries, and the requirements of social development for future talents. The first Doctor of Engineering exchange meeting of International Engineering Institute of Tianjin University ended in a warm atmosphere.
